“The technology just understands what I want to do and it does it.”
Sebastian Gomez-Peña is a British medical student. At the end of his first year of medical school, while visiting family in Venezuela, he dove into shallow water, struck his head, and broke his neck, which left him paralyzed from the neck down. Before the injury he was a keen cellist and rugby player, and afterward he stayed determined to continue his studies and regain some independence. In December 2025 he received his Neuralink implant as part of the UK PRIME study. He has described the experience as “magical” and “a new piece of hope.”
