An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed for one job, and Neuralink designs its own for the N1.
The chip amplifies the tiny brain signals, converts them to digital data, and detects spikes using very little power. In June 2026 the Korea Economic Daily reported that Samsung will make Neuralink's next-generation chip (KED).
