Electrodes

Electrodes are the tiny metal contacts along each thread that pick up the electrical signals of nearby neurons.

The N1 has 1,024 electrodes spread across its threads (PRIME study brochure). The size and shape of each contact decide how clearly it hears individual neurons, and coatings lower the electrical resistance at the contact so faint signals come through.
