The R1 is the robot Neuralink built to insert the implant's threads into the brain.
A needle thinner than a hair hooks each thread, pushes it into the cortex at a planned depth, and pulls back out while cameras track the brain's surface to steer around blood vessels. A neurosurgeon opens the skull and oversees the procedure, and the robot handles the thread insertion that is too fine for human hands. Its newest version is called Rev10.
